About Perseverance Cottage

Perseverance cottage was built in 1756 a small holding on the outskirts of the village of Orleton. Although the village has a Shropshire post code it is just inside the county of Hereford. It is situated on the B4361 opposite The Bakers Arms which used to be called The Maidenhead Inn. SY8 4JB for Sat Nav

Initially Perseverance Cottage was in the middle of a large orchard, and a Grand National winner The Colonel was stabled here for training on nearby Ashley Moor. The horse won the Grand National in 1869 at 100/8 and also the next year 1870 when it was 7/2 favourite.

We encourage all wild life and the wild birds eat us out of house and home in the winter. We regularly have Pheasants, Rabbits, Hedgehogs and even the occasional Badger pays us a visit.

The accommodation is in a perfect setting for a relaxing stay. We offer accommodation on a nightly or weekly basis even for self catering, ideal for that short break to visit friends or for a local wedding or party. If you require breakfast we serve that in our main house. We offer a full English Breakfast with cereals, our own jams and unlimited toast, tea and coffee. We also serve a vegetarian option if required.

The Granny Cottage is a single story building in it’s own garden some 25 yards from the house. Apart from a small step at the front door it is all on the level. Double French doors open out onto a patio are with garden furniture and sun loungers. As you enter the hallway the room to the left is the bedroom which has two single beds, directly opposite the front door is a modern bathroom with a shower. To the right of the hallway through a separate door is the open plan lounge which has a fully fitted kitchen within it. The kitchen has a ceramic hob and oven, a microwave oven, a fridge ( with a small freezer compartment), toaster and all the crockery, pots pans and cutlery you would expect. The lounge has two settees, one of which converts into a double bed, we have Freeview Tv and DVD and a small DVD library, we also have a CD/Radio. Guests have the use of a brick built Barbeque and decking area.

This makes it ideal for a family of 4 or 4 close friends as you can share the cottage yet maintain privacy at night

The cottage is heated by electric storage radiators and it also has a separate electric fire. All electricity, towels and bedding are supplied by us within the price quoted. There is off road parking for up to 4 cars.
